Upcoming New Zealand Exhibitions

CPS100 Due to the Christchurch earthquake, this exhibition will now NOT be held in 2011.

Upper Hutt 2013 – 16 Sep 2013 Upper Hutt (Specialised National).

CPS Centennial Stamp and Postcard Exhibition 14-15 Jan 2012

The President of the NZPF has issued a statement of support as follows:

The NZPF hopes that all exhibitors will support this exhibition, to be held on January 14-15, 2012 at the Addington Raceway in Christchurch. The CPS has the support of the NZPF Executive, and deserves the support of all philatelists in New Zealand. Although it is not a normal national exhibition, arrangements have been made for the NZPF to recognize exhibit awards, and also for Jury members to be accredited as usual. We hope you will support the CPS by exhibiting, and visiting their exhibition.

CPS 100 Newsletter No 4, comments that the city needs such as events as this to assist a return to normal. While the media concentrates on the horrors of damage in the central city and the eastern suburbs, the majority of the city looks little different, and life continues as before – perhaps a little more hectic- due to businesses that have moved into western areas. The roads have a lot more bumps (possibly not much different to other major cities), everyone has running water and flushing toilets, and so life continues. A revised prospectus has now been issued, along with a new Newsletter. Details are available at www.cps.gen.nz or from the Secretary, P O Box 18-914, Christchurch 8641. Because this is not a full national exhibition, the organisers will not enjoy the usual level of financial support from dealers or from NZ POST, so it is hoped collectors will help provide support by purchasing souvenirs or becoming a supporting member.

NZPF Levies for Overseas (excluding Australian National) Exhibitions

For many years, the Zeapex Trust kindly provided some funding, either directly to Commissioners, or indirectly through Federation, which contributed towards the cost of Commissioners carrying NZ exhibits to overseas exhibitions. With the world-wide financial difficulties over recent years, this funding has not been available, and the NZ National Philatelic Trust has also declined to assist. Commissioners to overseas exhibitions have always had to contribute a significant amount towards the cost of travel anyway, but now are faced with meeting the entire cost. The NZPF, after many months of looking at alternatives, has now decided that the fairest approach is to levy exhibitors directly. This means that there will now be a levy of $30 per frame (replacing the $6 per frame levy currently in place), for all overseas exhibitions, (except Australian National exhibitions, where the travel costs involved are met by the exhibition.) The levy of $6 per frame remains for Australian National exhibitions.
