Kiwipex 2006

Kiwipex 2006 is now history – a very successful exhibition, with the grand award being sorted out between two postal stationery exhibits! Ross Towle with Chile Postal Cards & Envelopes 1872-1929 just held out Stephen Schumann with NZ Postal Stationery 1876-1940. Espana 06 was held from Oct 7-13 in Malaga, Spain. Robin Gwynn was the NZ Commissioner and also a member of the Jury. The results were as follows:

Federation 2006 AGM

This was held in Hastings Nov 25 in conjunction with the third quarterly meeting of the Federation. President Jenny Banfield and Secretary Dave Fentress were both re-elected unopposed. Retiring Treasurer Sandra List was replaced by Terry Isaac. The Northern region has appointed Barry Scott to replace Mark Benvie. There were no remits to consider, and the structure of Federation levies was also unchanged.

Federation Brochures

A further brochure on ‘Estate Planning’ has been developed and will be published shortly.

Exhibiting Classes

First Day Covers

A ‘First Day Covers’ class has been added to the list of national philatelic classes, with judging criteria of the Australian experimental FDC class. Details are available from Norman Banfield at [email protected]

Development

A “Development’ class has also been approved. This is for adult exhibitors, and is aimed at encouraging new exhibitors. Entries are open only to NZ entrants, and may be one or two frames, and can be entered only by those who have not previously gained 70 points or more in a national exhibition for either a one frame or multi frame exhibit. Gemstone awards will be made. Judging criteria are currently being developed. If you have any ideas, please send them to Norman Banfield at [email protected]

Colour copies of exhibits

Just a reminder that Federation holds a number of quality colour copies of exhibits which are available for borrowing for club or publicity purposes. Contact the Secretary.
